Senior Legal Counsel (4-8 years PQE)
Marsh McLennan is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team in London. This is a broad role for a mid- to senior- level lawyer focusing primarily on complex disputes and regulatory matters, but with scope to become involved in broader commercial projects.
We will count on you to:
You will be a member of the Marsh Mercer Legal Department in London, working closely with the business to provide a high quality, dynamic and commercial legal service
You will manage a dedicated caseload of contentious matters relating to all lines of Marsh in the UK market. You will also have the opportunity to support other group companies
Within your first 6 months, you will be expected to develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act independently with regards to disputes and projects

Actively manage own caseload of complex disputes (litigated and non-litigated). This will involve undertaking investigations to ascertain background facts, analysis of liability and quantum, formulating a resolution strategy, preparing formal responses and settling claims as appropriate in accordance Mercer’s internal requirements and approval process
Provide reporting and advice on risk and litigation matters to senior stakeholders
Manage and advise on general regulatory disputes and regulatory investigations
Support on process improvement and risk mitigation
Support the business’ innovation and manage risks of new products and services.
Deliver clear, pragmatic solutions to business colleagues
Effectively prioritise work by understanding competing priorities and make appropriate judgments regarding relative importance
What you need to have:
4-8 years post qualification experience
Relevant litigation and regulatory experience in a professional services firm, financial services or law firm
A current Solicitors Practicing Certificate for England and Wales or fully admitted to the English Bar or hold a Scottish or foreign jurisdiction equivalent
Effective communication and influencing skills, with the ability to support and adapt to change and to be comfortable in areas of ambiguity
An understanding of the risks, issues and opportunities faced by a professional services firm
