The job: 

We are seeking a commercially astute and proactive In-House Counsel to join our commercial team in Bristol. This is a pivotal role within the business, providing legal support across a broad range of commercial activities, with a particular emphasis on contract negotiation and management. 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Group Commercial Director and cross-functional teams to ensure legal risk is effectively managed while enabling business growth.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including software licensing agreements, supply of services agreements, data processing agreements and NDAs
  • Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders on contractual matters and commercial risk
  • Support the business in managing legal aspects of technology-related agreements, including intellectual property matters and data protection compliance
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Liaise with external counsel when required, ensuring cost-effective and targeted legal support
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business and advise accordingly

Key skills and experience:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction)
  • 5+ years PQE with a strong background in commercial law
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally within a technology-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
