Join us, as General Counsel

The General Counsel will be a key member of the Leadership Squad supporting overall business decision making and ensuring that Three has the expert legal and regulatory advice and oversight to ensure compliance with industry regulations and mitigate legal risks as the business scales and expands.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  •  Develop and deliver strategies related to Legal and Regulatory Compliance for Three Ireland, including advising the Leadership Squad on key strategic legal and regulatory risk impacting the wider business.
  •  Oversee critical legal activities across all functions including commercial negotiations and contracts, IP, litigation, strategic alliances and partnerships, network supply agreements and outsourcing contracts, ensuring all functions take ownership and action to capture, understand and mitigate critical risks in timely manner.
  • Develop and implement Three Ireland’s compliance strategy, to ensure compliance in line with all relevant laws regulations applying to Three Ireland’s business including compliance with telecommunications, data protection and consumer and end user protection.
  • Develop and implement Three Ireland’s overall regulatory strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and proactive engagement with policymakers and governmental and statutory stakeholders, including advising and representing the Leadership Squad on all regulatory and government trends/issues which may impact wider business, internally and externally.
  • Lead the influencing of the evolving regulatory landscape and management of all regulatory risks impacting Three Ireland’s in relation to policy initiatives by ComReg, Data Protection Commission and Coimisiún na Meán.
  • Provide strong leadership across the legal and regulatory team ensuring that all members are motivated and continually developed to work to the best of their potential.
  •  In partnership with talent acquisition team develop a resourcing plan for the legal function to build and maintain talent pipelines to support the growth of the business.
  •  As a key member of the Leadership Squad play a key role in broader business decision making and strategy development
  • Advise on all corporate governance matters including advising the directors on their duties and ensuring that they comply with corporate legislation and the constitution of the company, maintaining the company’s statutory books and arranging meetings of the directors.

Candidate Requirements, Knowledge and Experience

  •  Experience as a senior legal/regulatory advisor (ideally in a General Counsel or equivalent capacity) for a similar sized company with consumer and business product offerings.
  •  Significant experience working in a cross-functional leadership team supporting broad business decision making
  • Experience working in a business working in a similar regulatory environment with a strong track record of managing compliance and working with business teams to implement strategies to mitigate risks
  • Experience engaging effectively with regulators and other stakeholders on the evolution of regulatory and legal strategies and policies
  • Expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, including service agreements, and vendor contracts
  • Experience working in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment including experience assessing the legal and commercial implications of expanding into new markets
  • Familiarity with best practices in corporate governance, including board responsibilities, ethics, and compliance
