To provide support to COG regions on all reinsurance-related issues. This role is a visible resource to business partners and colleagues worldwide. The position requires proactively seeking out opportunities to add value to Chubb’s global reinsurance transactions. A key aspect of the position is the ability to build strong internal working relationships with Chubb’s Ceded Reinsurance Department and product line business partners (P&C and A&H) as well as external working relationships with Chubb’s reinsurers and reinsurance brokers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role is primarily office-based (at least 3 days per week).
Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with COG Ceded Re buyers and brokers on Chubb’s reinsurance treaties
Assisting business partners with facultative transactions – ceded and assumed - for both affiliate and non-affiliate transactions
Responsibility for internal reinsurance arrangements
Advising Ceded Re buyers and Chubb’s Global Reinsurance Security Committee (RSC) on different types of collateral, e.g. trusts and parental guarantees
Reviewing/drafting captive arrangements and subsequent negotiation, and working with Global Credit Management on associated collateral with captives
Assisting on multinational program reinsurance structures and documents
Working with business lawyers and clients in negotiating treaties
Monitoring reinsurance regulatory developments around the world as they impact Chubb reinsurance placements and contracts
Providing and developing training to Chubb business lawyers on reinsurance issues
Advising Ceded Re, Claims and business partners on reinsurance coverage
Opportunity to get involved with contentious reinsurance issues, including any formal disputes
Negotiating agreements with brokers
Legal experience ideally within insurance or reinsurance, preferably including some non-contentious transactional experience.
Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and balance the business and legal issues to reach desired outcome
Knowledge of the reinsurance industry, customs and practices is preferable
Ability to manage multiple projects in dynamic business environment
Ability to work in a team environment
