Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Commercial and Data Counsel to provide dedicated legal support to the Parameta Solutions business across global markets. This role will be central to advising on a wide range of commercial and data-related legal matters within a dynamic financial services environment.
As the lead lawyer for Parameta Solutions, you will partner with senior management and cross-regional teams to ensure legal strategies align with business objectives. You will also contribute to global projects, support innovation in new products and solutions, and ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
This position is part of the wider EMEA Legal team and includes line management responsibility for one Counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Operate as the lead lawyer for Parameta Solutions, partnering with senior management across EMEA, Americas, and APAC.
Draft, review, and negotiate Master Data Services Agreements, market data contracts, and commercial agreements across the client base.
Support new product initiatives by drafting and negotiating SaaS, trading, onboarding, and post-trade documentation.
Advise on rulebook drafting in collaboration with Compliance.
Provide legal input on strategic projects and commercial initiatives, balancing risk with business objectives.
Partner with commercial, operations, and sales teams to design and optimise processes for contracts and sales management.
Manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including licensing, technology procurement, support, and NDAs.
Deliver general legal and regulatory advice, including on issues relevant to Parameta Solutions as a regulated Benchmark Administrator.
Review and approve marketing collateral to protect legal and reputational integrity.
Liaise across TP ICAP divisions and work closely with in-house legal teams globally.
Engage and manage external counsel, ensuring cost efficiency.
Provide leadership and development for one direct report.
Experience & Competencies
Essential
Extensive post-qualification experience in a City law firm or in-house, specialising in corporate and/or commercial agreements (ideally within a market data or financial services environment).
Strong track record in negotiating complex commercial contracts in financial services.
Ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business strategies and solutions.
Experience managing the legal aspects of cross-functional, large-scale projects.
Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders to shape and implement strategies aligned to legal risk appetite.
Demonstrated self-motivation and proactivity, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and excellent written/oral communication skills.
Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and inspire confidence at senior management level.
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing efficient legal processes to support growth or transformation.
Previous management/mentoring experience with the ability to develop and support team members.
University degree and qualified as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (or equivalent qualification).
Desired
Specific experience in market data licensing and distribution arrangements.
Familiarity with SaaS and technology agreements within financial markets.
Experience advising on benchmark regulation and related compliance requirements.
Exposure to regulatory frameworks impacting financial services and data-driven businesses.
Previous experience in a high-growth, innovative, or transformation-focused environment.
Experience working with global teams across multiple jurisdictions.
