Description

As Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting our business by providing broad and practical legal advice across multiple areas of law. From day one, you’ll work closely with experienced colleagues who will guide and mentor you, while giving you the chance to take on increasing responsibility and independence as you develop. Although your main focus will be on your designated business unit(s) or region, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects across Europe, working directly with the Senior Associate General Counsel and General Counsel, Europe.

This position may be based in any European country with an Emerson office, with a preference for Aberdeen, Scotland.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Advising business units on a wide range of legal issues with some supervision.
  • Providing liaison support between management, Emerson Legal groups, and outside counsel.
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating agreements (supplier, HR related, etc.).
  • Researching and advising on regulatory frameworks and local content requirements.
  • Supporting audits, self-assessments, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Ensuring compliance with Emerson policies, laws, and regulations, and providing timely updates to management.
  • Supporting strategic projects, policy implementation, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Staying informed on legal and regulatory developments and providing input to team initiatives.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • License to practice law in Scotland, England and Wales, or one of the Nordic jurisdictions (preferred) or another major European jurisdiction (may be accepted)
  • 2–4 years of relevant legal experience in a commercial and international environment (in-house or private practice)
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Able and willing to travel
  • Comfortable working with senior management
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Additional European language skills
  • Prior in-house legal experience within an international matrix company
  • Displayed skill in balancing legal risk with business needs and giving practical advice
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, M&A legal integration, or managing outside counsel
